Why is everyone talking about Lil Wayne like he's the best?

Why is everyone talking about how amazing Lil Wayne is? Is it just me or is he an absolutely terrible rapper (if he can be called that) and is one of the reasons rap is becoming so bad. I can't understand why everyone is talking about him like he is greatest rapper ever. Doesn't anyone remember rappers like Mos Def, Nas, Biggie, 2pac ect. Anyone agree or am I just crazy?
